Story of 2009

It was clear after our inaugural season that if Lancer Robotics was going to be competitive, we would need a larger space that could also function as our classroom.  Sacred Hearts Academy granted our request, and with a bit of sadness, we cleared out of the snug trailer and cleaned it well to be reclaimed by the construction company.

We went to the Wisconsin Regional again, hoping for some of last year’s luck.  Unfortunately, our robot was overweight, and inspection took awhile.  We worked through a few other issues successfully, and with smoke coming out of one of our jaguars, we were surprised to learn that we were the runner up in the Underwriters Laboratory Safety Award.  This was special since it was an award given by both the judges and the other teams.

At the Hawaii Regional, we won the Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers Entrepreneurship Award, and were again invited to the Championships in Atlanta.
